Our Fish

Quality

The best salmon in the world come from long, cold rivers. With the Alsek River being over 240 miles long and fed by the Walker, Alsek, Tweedsmuir, and Lowell Glaciers it excels in both of these categories. The fast, ice cold waters produce salmon that are high in Omega-3 fats and are larger in size than the average sockeye.  These fish often exceed the fat content of the acclaimed Copper River fishery, making them one of the best kept secrets in all of Alaska!

The Dry Bay Fishery is located within the first ten miles from the mouth of the river, meaning our fish are all ocean bright (often still having sea lice on them). This zone ensures that the fish have not begun to tap into their high fat stores as they move up river which means a firm, richly flavored fish.

Handled with Care

The Dry Bay Fishery is a set gill net fishery which means that every fish we sell is removed from the net by our hands. Each salmon is immediately bled and iced using the abundant glacial ice from the river. With in 24 hours of being caught, all fish are processed and moved in one of two directions. The first option is for the fish to be shipped immediately to fresh markets as a headed and gutted product. The second option routs the fish  to a finishing processor where it is portioned, removed of pin bones, and vacuum sealed for an optimal freshness of up to 2 years. Again this initial processing is done by us with a high level precision to ensure the best possible product.

We put great pride into the way we handle our fish because we feel that salmon of this quality deserves it, and we know you will notice the difference in the product we sell.
